DALI · Interface guide
Top bar and status
The parts of the console that are on every page. The status icons, the clock, the account menu, the sidebar and the warning banners.
Every console page has the same frame around it: a sidebar on the left, a top bar across the page, and on a phone a button bar along the bottom. Everyone who can sign in sees this frame. What is in the sidebar depends on your role.
Sidebar
The sidebar lists the pages you can open, in four groups. Pages your role cannot open are left out.
| Group | Pages | Who sees them |
|---|---|---|
| Monitor | Dashboard | Everyone |
| Data Sources | Modbus, SDI-12, Analog & Digital, Sensor Inventory | Admin, Factory |
| Parameters | Parameters | Admin, Factory |
| Data Output | Everyone | |
| System | Network, Device, Activity Logs | Admin, Factory |
| Commissioning, Factory | Factory |
The DALI logo at the top of the sidebar takes you to the Dashboard. The Aeron logo at the bottom opens the Aeron website.
Top bar
From left to right:
| Part | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Menu button | Only on narrow screens. Opens the sidebar as a drawer. |
| Page title | The page you are on. |
| USN | The station's serial number. It is on every page so that any screenshot says which station it came from. |
| Status icons | The health of the station's connections, storage and updates. See below. |
| Clock | The station's own date and time, in the station's time zone, not your computer's. |
| Account menu | Your photo or initials. Click it to open the menu. |
On narrower screens the bar folds into two rows: title, clock and account menu on the first, USN and status icons on the second. On a phone the clock shows hours and minutes only.
Status icons
The icons refresh every 30 seconds. Hover over an icon (or tap it on a phone) to see a short explanation.
| Icon | States |
|---|---|
| Ethernet | Green tick: connected with internet. Yellow mark: connected, no internet (check the gateway or provider). Red cross: cable not connected. |
| Wi-Fi | Green arcs: connected with internet. The number of arcs shows signal strength: 3 at -67 dBm or better, 2 down to -75 dBm, 1 below that. Yellow mark: connected, no internet. Red cross: Wi-Fi turned off, or on but not connected (network out of range or wrong password). |
| Cellular | Shows only the most useful icon at a time. No SIM: a SIM card with a cross. SIM but no network: empty bars, and the SIM icon says why (not registered, searching, registration denied or unknown). Registered: signal bars from 0 to 5, with the network generation. Data arrows appear only while cellular data is the connection in use. All three are hidden when cellular is turned off. |
| GPS | Green tick: position known (the tooltip shows latitude and longitude). Exclamation: no satellite fix. Red: the GPS module is faulty. |
| SD card | Green: card working, the tooltip shows space used. Orange: the card is mounted but cannot be written. Grey dash: the SD card slot has been switched off by an administrator. Red: no card. Hidden on models without an SD card slot. |
| Cloud | The upload to Aeron Cloud (Live3). Green tick: up to date, or catching up on a backlog. Yellow: the server cannot be reached, 100 or more files are waiting and not going down, or the station's clock is behind the last upload time. Red cross: upload is disabled. |
| Firmware | Tick: firmware up to date. Download icon: an update is downloaded, verified and waiting to be installed. Moving icon: downloading or installing. Red: the last update failed to install. A plain icon means no update has been installed on this station yet. On firmware 4.1 and later. |
Yellow cloud with a working internet connection
If the cloud icon says the last upload time is ahead of the station's clock, the station's time has gone backwards. Uploads may stall until the time is right. An Admin can check it on Device, Time.
Account menu
Click your photo or initials to open it.
- Your name and email. A station that has never been online may only know your email.
- Your organisation's logo, and "from" your organisation if you belong to a different organisation from the station's owner.
- Your role: Factory, Admin or User.
- Change password (Admin and User only). Sets the station's own local password for your role. It is 8 to 64 characters and needs an upper case letter, a lower case letter and a digit. You do not need it to sign in through Live3.
- Log out ends your session and returns you to the sign-in page.
Banners
| Banner | When it appears | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| SD card issue (red, under the top bar) | The SD card is mounted but cannot be written. The banner shows the reason. | An Admin opens Open Storage, SD Card Format in the banner, which leads to Device, Storage. The x hides the banner until a different fault appears. |
| Network change (amber, on the Network page) | A network setting was just changed and the station is checking that it still works. | See Network. On firmware 4.1 and later. |
Bottom bar on a phone
On a narrow screen a bar along the bottom replaces most sidebar use. Each button shows only if your role can open what it leads to.
| Button | Opens |
|---|---|
| Home | Dashboard |
| Data | Data Output |
| Sources | Modbus (then use the sidebar for SDI-12 or Analog & Digital) |
| Params | Parameters |
| System | Network (Device and Activity Logs are in the sidebar) |
Version chip
A small grey chip in the bottom right corner shows which build the station is running. Aeron support may ask you to read it out.
