Open the console on site
Reach a station's console while standing next to it, with no router, no cable and no internet.
Goal: standing at the station, you have its console open on a phone or laptop, signed in.
The station makes its own Wi-Fi network, the hotspot. You join it, open the console at https://192.168.4.1, and sign in with the access code from the Live3 app, which works with no internet.
Before you start
- The Live3 app on your phone, opened at least once with signal so it can show codes offline. Without that, the app can only give you read-only access on site.
- Access to the station in Live3 (see Request access).
- Physical access to the station, if you will use its hotspot button.
Steps
- 1
Start the hotspot. Either press the hotspot button on the station, or, on firmware 4.1 and later, use the Live3 app: open the On site tab, find the station under Nearby, and tap Connect. The app wakes the station over Bluetooth, which starts its hotspot and hands the phone the password. See Use the hotspot for all three ways.
- 2
Join the hotspot. Its name is
XTM-followed by the last four digits of the station's serial number. When the Live3 app connects, it joins for you. From a laptop, join it in your Wi-Fi settings and enter the hotspot password (on firmware 4.1 and later, each station has its own). - 3
Open the console. In the browser, go to
https://192.168.4.1. Accept the certificate warning the first time. - 4
Sign in. Type your email and the access code from the Live3 app (Device access, Code). See Sign in to a station. Continue with Live3 and access links need internet in the browser, which the hotspot does not give.
Check it worked
The Dashboard opens and shows the station's serial number in the top bar. Check it is the station in front of you.
If something goes wrong
- The app cannot wake the station. Stand closer and tap again. If the hotspot is already on, the station cannot be woken over Bluetooth: join its Wi-Fi from your phone's settings instead.
- You are signed in as User only. A Bluetooth walk-up on its own gives the User role. Sign in with your access code to get your full role.
- The hotspot went off. It stops by itself after its timeout (15 to 120 minutes). Start it again.
