DALI · Interface guide
Device
The station's own settings. Identity and location, time, data storage, firmware updates, remote support, configuration backup and restart.
The Device page holds the settings that belong to the station itself rather than to a sensor or a connection. It has five tabs: General, Time, Storage, Firmware and System. Most sections are cards you can fold by clicking their heading.
Who can open it: Admin and Factory. Some cards are Factory only; the tables below say which.
General tab
| Card | Who sees it |
|---|---|
| Device Information | Factory |
| Location Coordinates | Admin, Factory |
Device Information (Factory)
Shows the station's USN (serial number), Part ID, Model, Hardware Version and Software Version, and the site fields below. Admins see these values on the Dashboard instead.
| Field | Allowed values | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Station ID | Up to 32 characters | Your own ID for the station, for example a site code. |
| Station Name | Up to 40 characters | The name shown on the Dashboard and in reports. |
| Location | Up to 60 characters | A description of the site. |
The serial number, part number, model and hardware version are set by Aeron at the factory. Save stores the card.
Location Coordinates
The station's latitude and longitude. They are used by the sunrise, sunset and sun-position equations, by Reset to zero after sunset, and in the Modbus slave registers.
The top of the card shows the coordinates in use and where they come from: Live GPS fix, Last good GPS fix, Manual entry or No coordinates available.
| Control | Allowed values | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Mode | Automatic (GPS) or Manual | Automatic uses the live GPS fix, and the last good fix if GPS drops. Manual uses the numbers you enter and ignores GPS. |
| Manual Latitude | -90 to 90 (positive is north) | Manual mode only. |
| Manual Longitude | -180 to 180 (positive is east) | Manual mode only. |
| Use as manual | Copies the current GPS fix into the manual fields. |
Save stores manual coordinates.
Time tab
Auto Time Sync
The station can set its clock from GPS, the cellular network or an internet time server (NTP), in the order you choose.
| Field | Allowed values | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Sync Interval (Hours) | 1 to 24 | How often the station re-checks its clock. |
| NTP Server | A host name, up to 64 characters | The internet time server, for example pool.ntp.org. |
| GPS Priority, Cellular Priority, NTP Priority | Disabled, 1, 2 or 3 | Which source is tried first. Disabled leaves a source out. Each number can be used once. |
| Timezone | Search and pick from the list | The station's time zone. All times on the station follow it. |
| DST Setting | Automatic (follow daylight saving rules) or Disabled | Disabled keeps the zone's standard offset all year. |
A line under the fields shows the last automatic sync, or the last attempt if it failed.
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Save | Stores the sync settings and time zone. |
| Sync Now | Syncs the clock straight away from the sources above. |
Manual Time Override
Sets the clock once, by hand. Use it when no time source is available.
| Field | Allowed values | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Date & Time | DD-MM-YYYY HH:MM:SS, 24-hour, year 1970 to 2037 | The time to set, in the station's time zone. |
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Apply Manual Time | Sets the clock to the value entered. |
| Sync to Browser Time | Sets the clock from your computer's clock in one step. |
If automatic sync is on, the next sync may change the clock again.
Why the time matters
Logged data is stamped with the station's time, uploads are ordered by it, and sign-in with a Live3 access code only works when the station's clock is within a few minutes of the real time.
Storage tab
| Card | Who sees it |
|---|---|
| Data Storage Configuration, USB Export, SD Card | Admin, Factory |
| Storage Details | Admin, Factory |
Data Storage Configuration
Processed Data is the logged data: one record per interval.
| Field | Allowed values | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Update Interval | 1, 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 min | The logging interval: how often a record is written. |
| Create Interval | 1, 3, 6 or 12 hours, 1 day or 1 month | How often a new data file is started. Downloads are split the same way. |
Raw Data is the per-second data.
| Field | Allowed values | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Enable Raw Data Logging | On or off | Whether per-second data is kept at all. |
| Update Interval | 1, 2, 5, 10, 15 or 30 sec | How often a raw record is written. |
| Create Interval | 1, 3, 6 or 12 hours, or 1 day | How often a new raw file is started. |
Save applies both sections.
Show stale sensor values as NaN (recommended) saves by itself. When on, a sensor that has stopped answering is recorded as NaN (no value) instead of repeating its last reading.
USB Export and SD Card
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Enable USB data export | Allows or blocks copying data to a USB drive plugged into the station. |
| Enable SD card slot | Allows or blocks the SD card. Turning it off unmounts the card within about 15 seconds and keeps it unmounted until you turn it back on. |
Storage Details
Shows how full the internal memory (eMMC) and the SD card are, and for each an estimate of how many days of data fit before the oldest data is removed ("about 120 days left"). Refresh reads the figures again.
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Clear Internal Memory | Deletes all data files and logs from internal memory. The SD card is not touched. Asks you to confirm. Cannot be undone. |
| Clear SD Card | Deletes all data files from the SD card. Internal memory is not touched. Asks you to confirm. |
| Format SD Card | Erases and reformats the SD card. Use it when the SD card banner reports a card error. Asks you to confirm. |
Clearing is permanent
Data that has not been downloaded or uploaded yet is lost when you clear or format. Download what you need first on Data output.
Firmware tab
| Card | Who sees it |
|---|---|
| Updates | Admin, Factory |
| Firmware Upload, Firmware Update (Field Sensors) | Factory |
Updates
On firmware 4.1 and later. Firmware releases are chosen and assigned to a station in Live3. The station downloads the release, checks that it is signed by Aeron, and installs it. This card shows where the station stands.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Up to date | The station is on its assigned version and has checked with Live3 in the last day. |
| Couldn't check for updates | The station has not heard from Live3 recently. |
| Not connected to Live3, so newer updates are not known here | The station has never checked. |
| Downloading (version) | Shows how many of the release's parts have arrived. |
| (version) is ready to install | Downloaded and verified. The line underneath says whether you can install it. |
| Installing (version) | Some services restart while it installs. |
| Update failed | The station is still on its previous version. The reason is shown. |
Notes under the status can say Paused in Live3, Installs in the next scheduled window, No update is assigned to this station, or An update is on the way but not ready yet.
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Install now | Installs a release that is ready. Shown only when installing is switched on for this station. |
| Check for updates | Asks Live3 now instead of waiting. The page waits up to 90 seconds for the answer; the station keeps checking on its own either way. |
Below, the card lists the update policy, when the station last checked, when the current version was installed, and its parts.
See Firmware updates and Update firmware.
Firmware Upload and Firmware Update (Field Sensors)
Factory only. Aeron uses these to load signed firmware onto the station's coprocessor, and onto some supported field sensors connected over RS232 or RS485. The station refuses any package that is not signed by Aeron.
System tab
| Card | Who sees it |
|---|---|
| CPU Temperature | Factory |
| SeRA | Admin, Factory |
| Device Token | Factory |
| Import / Export Configuration | Factory |
| System Reboot | Admin, Factory |
SeRA (remote support)
SeRA lets Aeron support reach this station's console for a limited time. See Remote support.
| Shown | What it is |
|---|---|
| Status | Enabled, Disabled, or Enabled, not connected when the station cannot reach the remote access service. |
| Session, Remaining | Whether a session is open and how long it has left. |
| Access Link, Access Password | While enabled: what to give Aeron support so they can connect. |
| Control | Allowed values | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Timeout | 5, 10, 15 or 30 min, 1, 2, 4, 8, 12 or 24 hours | How long remote access stays open. It closes by itself at the end. |
| Enable SeRA / Disable SeRA | Opens or closes remote access. |
Device Token (Factory)
Shows whether the station holds its own Live3 credential: Token active, or No device token yet, in which case remote access and data sync cannot start. The token is fetched on the Commissioning page.
Import / Export Configuration (Factory)
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Export Configuration | Downloads the station's whole configuration as a ZIP file. |
| Generate Commissioning Report | Makes a PDF report of the station's setup. |
| Import Selected | Imports the sections you tick from a configuration ZIP. |
When you choose a ZIP to import, the page shows which station, model, date and firmware it came from, and warns you if the model differs from this station. Then tick the sections to import: Serial / Modbus, SDI-12, Channels and Parameters are ticked by default; Sensors, Cloud / Upload, Network, Time Sync, Device Location, Data Storage, Device Info and the rest start unticked, because they are more likely to overwrite settings that belong to this station. See Copy a configuration to another station.
System Reboot
Reboot Device restarts the station after you confirm. All connections drop. A restart usually takes about 90 seconds; the page counts the time and reconnects when the station is back.
Messages you may see
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| Latitude must be between -90 and 90 / Longitude must be between -180 and 180 | Correct the coordinate. |
| Enter latitude and longitude before saving | Manual mode needs both values. |
| No GPS fix to copy | Use as manual needs a GPS fix. |
| Year must be 1970 to 2037 | The station's clock cannot be set outside those years. |
| Use DD-MM-YYYY HH:MM:SS (24h, with seconds) | The manual time is in the wrong format. |
| Invalid Processed Update Interval (and the other interval messages) | Pick a value from the list. |
| Live3 didn't answer yet. The station keeps checking on its own. | Check for updates timed out after 90 seconds. |
