Request access
Ask the people who look after a station for access to its console, and approve a request as the owner.
Goal: you have no access to a station, you ask for it from its sign-in page, and the owner's approval sends you an access link.
Before you start
- A Live3 account. Anyone signed in to Live3 can ask; you do not need a role on the station yet.
- A browser on the station's sign-in page, with internet on the computer (the request is made in Live3).
- To approve: the station must be allocated to you in Live3. You can grant at most your own role.
Steps
- 1
Ask. On the station's sign-in page, click Request access from the device owner. Live3 opens in a new tab, with the station already filled in. Sign in to Live3 if asked, choose the role you need, add a reason, and send.
- 2
Wait for a decision. Everyone the station is allocated to in Live3 is emailed. If you already have access, Live3 tells you so instead of filing the request. Clicking the link again updates your open request rather than making a second one.
- 3
Approve (station owner). In Live3, open Organization, then Access requests. Approve the request, choosing the role to grant (it may be lower than the one asked for), or deny it with a note. The first decision counts; if someone else already decided, Live3 says so.
- 4
Sign in with the link. On approval, the requester is emailed an access link. Open it in the browser you will work in, or paste it under Access link on the sign-in page. See Sign in to a station.
Check it worked
The link opens the console signed in, at the role that was granted. The access link works once and expires, at most 30 days after it was made. For later visits, the station owner can give you a standing role in Live3 so you can use access codes from the app.
If something goes wrong
- Nobody answers. The request waits until someone the station is allocated to decides. Contact the station's owner directly.
- Denied. The note from the owner is shown to you in Live3.
- The link is refused. It was already used or has expired. Ask for a new one.
