TermMeaning
Access codeAn 8-character code shown in the Live3 app. Type it with your email to sign in to a station. It changes every minute and works once.
Access linkA signed link from Live3 that signs you in to one station with one role. It expires within 30 days and works once.
Activity logThe station's record of who did what and when. Tamper-evident, kept for 180 days.
AdminThe role for people who set up and look after a station.
Aeron CloudThe upload that sends a station's data to Live3.
Calculated parameterA parameter worked out from other parameters rather than read from a sensor.
CDABThe byte order of the 32-bit floating-point values on the station's Modbus slave: the low 16-bit word first, each word most significant byte first.
CommissioningGetting a new station ready for service. Done by Aeron staff on the Commissioning page.
ConflictA setting where the station and Live3 hold different values. Always shown to a person to decide.
Continue with Live3Signing in to a station by confirming who you are in Live3 in your browser.
Create IntervalHow much time one data file covers, for example 1 hour or 1 day.
DALIThe web console built into every XTM station.
DestinationOn firmware 4.1 and later, a place the station sends data to, such as your HTTPS endpoint, Azure, AWS or an MQTT broker.
FactoryThe role for Aeron staff. Granted by Live3 only.
FirmwareThe software that runs the station, including the console.
GPS FixA column in data files showing whether the GPS had a position when the record was made.
HotspotThe station's own Wi-Fi network, for people on site. The console is at 192.168.4.1 on it.
Live3Aeron's cloud platform and mobile app. It manages who can reach a station and keeps a copy of its settings.
Logged dataOne record per logging interval, for example every minute. Also called processed or minute data.
Modbus masterThe station reading values from a sensor or device over Modbus.
Modbus slaveThe station answering a SCADA system or PLC that reads values from it over Modbus.
NaN"Not a number". Written in place of a value when its sensor has stopped answering, so it cannot be mistaken for a real zero.
Network guardThe safety net that puts the previous network settings back if a change cuts the station off.
Over-the-air update (OTA)A firmware release that reaches a station through Live3 instead of by hand.
ParameterOne named value the station records, with a unit and a number of decimals.
QualityWhether a value is fresh (just read), held (the last value, between reads) or stale (the sensor has stopped answering).
Raw dataReadings recorded at a short fixed interval, 1 to 30 seconds, each with a Valid flag. Also called 1-second or instantaneous data.
RoleWhat you may do on a station: Factory, Admin or User. It comes from Live3.
SCADAThe supervisory system at a plant that reads values from devices such as the station.
SD cardRemovable storage in the station for a long-term, encrypted archive.
SDI-12A serial bus used by many environmental sensors.
SeRARemote support: a time-limited session that lets Aeron support reach a station.
Sequence numberA parameter's position on the Parameters page. It sets the column order in files and the register on the Modbus slave.
Serial numberThe station's unique number, printed on the enclosure. The hotspot name ends with its last four digits.
Staged updateA firmware release downloaded and verified on the station, waiting to be installed.
StaleA value whose sensor has stopped answering.
StationAn Aeron XTM data logger and everything connected to it.
SyncKeeping a station's settings and Live3's copy of them in step.
Update IntervalHow often a record is written: 1 to 60 minutes for logged data, 1 to 30 seconds for raw data.
UserThe read-only role: the Dashboard and Data output.
Valid flagThe column after each value in raw data files: 1 fresh, 0 held, 2 stale, 3 never received since the station started.
XTMAeron's station hardware.
