Analytics
Charts and tables that compare parameters, stations or time periods over a window you choose.
Analytics turns readings into charts you can compare. You pick what to compare first (several parameters on one station, one parameter across several stations, or the same parameter over different periods), set a time range and resolution, then click Apply. The result can be read as a chart, a table or, for wind data, a wind rose.
How to get there. Choose Analytics in the left navigation. Unlike most screens, Analytics has its own station selector inside the form instead of the one in the top bar.
Key areas
| Area | What it does |
|---|---|
| Comparison tabs | Parameter comparison (single station), Station comparison (single parameter), and Period comparison. Each tab has its own form, and your choices are kept when you switch tabs. |
| Time range | Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, or Custom dates. Ranges follow the station's own timezone. |
| Resolution | How readings are grouped before plotting: Raw, 1 Second, 1 Minute, 5, 15 or 30 Minutes, 1 Hour, or 24 Hours. |
| Aggregation | How each group is summarised: Average, Minimum, Maximum or Cumulative. Not used at Raw resolution. |
| Apply and Reset | Apply loads the data for the current form. Reset clears your stations and parameters and returns to Yesterday, 15 Minutes and Average. |
| View tabs | Chart (as Line, Area or Bar), Table, and Wind Rose. The wind rose needs a wind speed or wind direction parameter in your selection. |
| Chart tools | Limits draws the parameter's lower and upper limits as guide lines. Zoom and Reset zoom into part of the chart and back. Download saves the chart as a PNG image. |
| Statistics | Under the chart, each series shows its min, max, average, median, standard deviation and number of points. |
Common tasks
Compare several parameters on one station
- Open the Parameter comparison tab.
- Choose the station, a time range, a resolution and an aggregation.
- Under Parameters to compare, select two or more parameters. Parameters with different units each get their own vertical axis.
- Click Apply.
Compare one parameter across stations
- Open the Station comparison tab.
- Set the time range, resolution and aggregation.
- Add the stations you want, and pick the parameter for each one. Each station becomes its own line on the chart.
- Click Apply.
Compare this week with an earlier week
- Open the Period comparison tab.
- Choose the station, then one parameter.
- Set Period 1, then click Add period for each earlier period you want (up to four periods in total). The periods are lined up on one time axis so you can see them side by side.
- Click Apply.
Get the numbers behind a chart
- After Apply, switch the view to Table.
- Click Download above the table to save it as a CSV file.
Over long ranges, Live3 may plot a sample of the readings so the chart stays fast, and says so above the chart. Minimum, maximum and cumulative values can then miss extremes. Use a coarser resolution, or the Table view at Raw resolution, when you need exact values. Readings that are physically impossible (for example a sensor fault reporting thousands of millimetres of rain in a day) are left out, and the screen tells you how many.
